Casa Ferri

We were blown away by the view across the Sassi from the apartment. The owner was so friendly and showed us around, including some ancient relics. Everything was fantastic. We'll definitely return and recommend the place to our friends and family.

Sleeping in a cave was an extraordinary experience, and I slept like a baby. The place was very clean and made a great base for exploring Matera's old city. There's a nearby parking garage if you're arriving by car.

That garden view of the Sassi and the Duomo is the real highlight, especially after dark. While people queue at a viewpoint by the piazza, you can enjoy the whole scene from the garden and take photos day or night without being disturbed. The garden is huge, too. The room was spotless, with a comfortable mattress and high quality memory foam pillows. The air conditioning cooled the whole room within minutes, so I usually switched it off afterward. They provided bottled water, tea, coffee, and free internet, though reception can be difficult in this basement cave room. The owner was nice, and the woman who welcomed us gave us a tour and was very kind. I'd happily give this place more than five stars. Highly recommended.
