The host worked with us when we needed to change our schedule. Inside, the apartment was clean, modern and nicely updated, though antique on the outside. It was small, as was the terrace, but comfortable for two. There were lots of windows, each showing a different and interesting view of the old city. We loved having coffee and wine out on the terrace in the mornings and evenings.

From the small balcony, the view across Matera is fantastic. La Casa di Giò is in one of the restored houses in the sassi, and the small home was modern, clean and comfortable. It's close to the main streets and squares, but also well placed for wandering off into Matera's maze of charming cobbled lanes. Patrizia was communicative and very helpful, sending detailed directions with pictures to find the house. She also put together a link with places to see, attractions and restaurants. Matera itself is stunning.

A disaster. The host was rude and unpleasant, not hospitable at all, and acted as if she had the right to argue with guests.
