Palazzo Del Duca Hotel & Restaurant

We had a terrace room with spectacular views, and it's a lovely hotel. But the restaurant was closed, which surprised us when we arrived. There was no bar to relax in, no tea or coffee in the room, and no chairs, so it was either sit outside or nowhere. Breakfast at a neighboring hotel meant quite a hike. I'd stay again if the restaurant were open.

The room's modern but cozy design made the stay feel special, and the bed was incredibly comfortable after long days exploring. Staying here feels like part of really experiencing the city.

The setting at Palazzo del Duca Matera is beautiful, with views I really appreciated, but my room experience was very disappointing. I stayed for one night, and when I came back late after being out all day, sand and little bits of debris kept falling from the ceiling. They were scattered on the bed, floor, and even in the bathroom, which was annoying and made it extremely uncomfortable to sleep. I reported it to reception after breakfast and asked whether this was normal. They said someone would inspect, but I waited three hours and no one came before checkout. I raised it again when leaving, but there was no urgency or proper attempt to make things right. For a property in this category, I expected much better service and accountability. The lack of attention and follow-up left me very disappointed.

My family and I took a private cooking class here, and the whole experience was perfect. We learned to roll pasta while Chef Mario cooked, with his sister Elena rolling pasta throughout. Chef Mario's food was the best I've ever had, even though I've eaten at a lot of places. They were so kind and welcoming. I can't wait to come back and stay there too.
