Watch out for the ZTL zone. The hotel is inside it, so you can't drive right up to the property. Don't count on the suggested parking either, since the options they pointed us to were expensive. We found a P for 5 euro.

The room was lovely and a good size, and the people were helpful. But it was 37 degrees today and the A/C only pushed air around without cooling anything. We told reception, and they sent maintenance, but he thought it was working. When we asked whether it was cooling, he just shrugged and asked how long it had been running. Two and a half hours. All we could do was sweat and write this. It's a shame, because everything else was good and Matera is a beautiful city.

The building is in a great spot, and the price was low, but the stay was still disappointing. The bed was rock hard, the sink was loose, and the shower head was broken. There were three showers, though, and a steamer if that's your thing. Hot water covered about one and a half showers, then took all night to heat up again. Parking was difficult too. We left the car at the main hotel and walked about 300 meters to our building.
