Masseria Costarella

The staff, especially the two sisters who host guests, did everything they could to make our stay great in this peaceful, beautiful spot. It was our favorite choice across five weeks of travel. We spent a week here in two different rooms, and both were very clean and comfortable. The air conditioning worked really well and was much appreciated with daily temperatures in the mid-90s. The clean pool was lovely and pleasantly warm, and breakfast had plenty of variety. Both rooms had fridges large enough for drinks and deli items. There isn’t much right nearby, but we drove to lots of lovely places, and we enjoyed the nearby restaurant Mambas a few times.

The ladies were so welcoming to us and our little one, and gave us plenty of ideas for places to eat and visit. We didn’t have a rental car, but they knew good transfer contacts, and I was glad I could cycle to the nearby village for shopping. Dinner isn’t served at the property, though the evening aperitivo is filling, and I think almost all the rooms have a small kitchenette. Breakfast was delicious, with lots of local options. We stayed for two nights at the start of June. It was just before high season, but temperatures were already in the high 30s. The green, lush garden and pool were a welcome place to wind down in the quiet at the end of our holiday. I didn’t take any daytime photos, but at night it looks just as beautiful, maybe even more so.

The pictures actually undersell the place. It’s beautiful, peaceful, charming, and full of authentic Italian character. Everything was spotless and cleaned daily, and the staff were incredibly kind and helpful. Breakfast was excellent, with plenty of options for vegans and non-vegans alike. We loved staying here and would be happy to come back.

A distinctive, decent Masseria that’s worth the price and lives up to its ratings. I’d recommend it for a quiet getaway in southern Italy.
