Hotel Adler

Our room was clean but small, and the beds were hard. We also didn’t get a lake-view room. The hotel isn’t really walkable from town: there are no sidewalks along the busy road. Parking off the street costs 10€ a day, and pool towels cost the same. You can’t use the room towels at the pool. The church next door starts ringing its bell at 7 AM every day.

The family who run the Adler hotel clearly care about their guests, and the service was excellent. We booked on the day we arrived, stayed two nights, and changed rooms after the first one. The rooms are basic but comfortable for the price. We had dinner there both nights, and the homemade food was tasty and creative. The owner-chef is excellent. It’s uphill outside Mennagio, so you definitely need a car to get there. Still, it makes a good base for exploring the lakeside towns, with Bellagio just a short boat ride away.

This place is wonderfully quiet, about an eight-minute drive from Mennagio central in a smaller suburb. Walking there takes around 30 minutes and it’s quite uphill, so having a car makes a big difference. There’s free street parking or paid parking behind the hotel. The lake-view balcony room is spectacular and worth paying extra for. We ordered coffee and drinks at the downstairs bar and enjoyed them out there. The room was spacious, tidy, and well laid out, with great bathroom fittings. We didn’t eat at the hotel, though dinner can be booked in advance. We highly recommend staying here in Lago di Como.

The pool wasn’t big, but it was lovely for cooling off. My room was clean and tidy, with a beautiful view, and people around the hotel were friendly and helpful. The food was delicious when we ate there, with plenty of different meals to choose from. The hotel is beautifully situated, and Minaggio was easy to get around.
