Vea Resort

The room facing the mountains was quiet and comfortable, while the road-facing one had a constant, slightly mysterious sound like running water. Its bed and pillow weren’t comfortable, there was little storage, and the air conditioning lacked power. Parking could be tricky, and the food wasn’t anything special, though I liked the breakfast. I’d particularly recommend the restaurants nearby instead of the hotel’s, since they’re great. The road to the coast was easy enough. For a family of four, this was the simple, practical, enjoyable stay with a pool that we wanted, and the staff were great. Thank you, Gerardo!

The staff were nice and accommodating, and it’s a lovely place to stay for the price. It was clean, tidy, and well maintained. The pool area was lovely with lots of deckchairs, but the water was too cold for me. The beds weren’t comfortable by my standards, though we slept okay. There’s a minibar in the room, but no coffee or drinks setup. We asked for hot water and got it at no charge. The air conditioning wasn’t working well, but staff sent someone to fix it right away. It’s centrally controlled, so staff have to set the temperature. Wi-Fi wasn’t great, though I think that’s due to the area rather than the hotel. Breakfast is what brings my score down: it was very basic, with just one vegetable option, tomato one day and cucumber the next. It’s not a good breakfast for vegetarians or vegans. They did have gluten-free options and soy milk, which was great, along with lots of pastries, cakes, and pancakes. I just don’t count pastries as food, especially for breakfast. For what it is, it isn’t expensive.

The restaurant meal was excellent, and the staff were very helpful. The rooms were large and very clean, and the price was great. Still, this resort hotel felt like a three-star place, not a four-star one. Dogs barked at all hours and woke us up, including large dogs allowed in the hotel and rooms. When we mentioned the loud barking to the man at the desk, he basically said dogs were allowed. The Wi-Fi was terrible, and there was no cell phone coverage up in the mountains. The spa was always closed. We made the best of our six nights, but we wouldn’t recommend it or return. I’d pay a little more for a true four-star hotel.

Vea Resort has everything you need despite being in the middle of nowhere: a pool, bar, restaurant, and gym. Our room overlooking the valley had a breathtaking view of the mountains and nature, and the room itself was modern and clean. We were unexpectedly welcomed with a complimentary bottle of local sparkling wine and biscotti. The owners and staff at Vea Resort were very hospitable. I rarely give five stars, but this hotel and resort deserves them.
