I’d heard about Sicily’s hospitality, but the welcome we got at Cirismiro still surprised me. The owner had set up a modem in my room after I mentioned how important a stable connection was for my online meetings. I’ve never had that kind of service. The place is right by the sea, very clean, and carefully looked after, and the value for money was excellent. I’ll definitely return, this time with my wife.

I was there for one night in early February. The room was comfortable and clean, and everything about the welcome and organization was impeccable. It’s only steps from the sea, so I imagine its full potential really shows in the summer.

At this time of year, early January, the price for what you get is a big reason to choose this property. It’s also in a quiet stretch of the Messina coast, right across from the sea. The owner's mother actually manages the place and looks after guests, and she was extremely kind and helpful. Our first-floor room was spacious and comfortable, with a lovely sea-view balcony. Having the bathroom outside the room was inconvenient, especially at night. Breakfast wasn't included, despite what the booking offer said. What was provided was some sweet snacks, biscuits and jam. In the room there was a pod coffee machine, but no way to make hot water for tea. I had to explain that we needed a liter of milk and use of the microwave in the ground-floor dining area, which is otherwise reserved for guests on that floor. The owner was quick to help with these simple requests. I suggest removing breakfast as an included service, or supplying UHT milk and a kettle, which cost from €10, so guests don't have to worry about expiry dates. Another option would be to charge €3 per person per day and arrange with a local bar or café for a coffee, cappuccino or tea and a croissant or brioche of their choice, on a one-plus-one basis. Still, the owner and his mother responded quickly when we raised the issue.

We had a great stay, thanks to the courtesy and helpfulness of the attentive owner. The nearby bar’s granita was a real treat, and check-in time was flexible. Check-out at 10:00 was almost inflexible. The room was large and had all the amenities, including water in the fridge, a coffee maker, breakfast supplies, TV and air conditioning. The bed was too soft, and the bathroom wasn’t ensuite. I’d highly recommend it if you’re passing through Torre Faro.
