Panorama Palace Hotel

We were comfortable during our stay even though the hotel is currently being renovated. Valentino and Luigi welcomed us wonderfully, and the staff were top tier. The location and views were perfect, and we made lots of great memories here. The only disappointments were the Wi-Fi and the rough towels. We plan to return in a couple of years. The hotel’s best feature is the position up on the hill, with gorgeous gulf and sea views from the public spaces. Getting around is easy too, since the bus station is nearby for trips to Sorrento and the villages. The rooms, though, mostly look onto a closed courtyard, and they’re small, bare, and starting to feel worn. The stark minimalist look felt cramped and clinical to me, almost like a cage, and the interiors could use fresh paint. Housekeeping was a bright spot, with a thorough clean every day. The pool is tucked low between walls, so it gets very little sun. The restaurant seemed to serve mostly groups who had booked ahead, and the bar’s drink selection was very limited. On-site parking is extremely scarce right now. The grounds have a spectacular view, but the rooms don’t share it. I’d choose this place if I planned to spend most of my time out exploring rather than relaxing at the hotel.

We were told our family of four would have enough room, but the tiny room we walked into left nowhere to put our suitcases or move around. Before we’d touched anything, we went downstairs to ask for a refund so we could find another hotel. They refused and said we could leave if we wanted to stay somewhere else. The advertised photos don’t look anything like the hotel or its rooms. I wouldn’t have made such an issue of it if they’d offered to return even part of our money, but they didn’t try to help us at all. Now we’re paying for this place for all four nights and for another hotel too. The service was terrible and the stay was uncomfortable.

Antonio at the bar made our week at Panorama Palace especially memorable. He took time from a busy evening to chat, suggested places to visit, and went out of his way to meet our needs. Everyone at Panorama was warm and friendly. We stayed seven nights, and the hotel itself is lovely, right across from a local beach with restaurants.
