The hotel felt clean but a little old. Staff were very friendly and helped us work out public transport, including how to get to the track for the F1 Monza GP. Special thanks to Camila at reception. It’s quite a way from the nicer restaurants in Darsena, though the restaurant across the road had good food at a good price. Breakfast could be improved, maybe with a hot option.

Hotel Alga felt outdated and wasn’t worth the price. The Wi-Fi was so bad it was almost unusable, and the room had no shampoo or basic toiletries. There wasn’t even bottled water to welcome us, and the old TV didn’t support YouTube or other modern features. We couldn’t use the restaurant either, which was inconvenient. The hotel is far from the city, so you end up paying too much for taxis.

The receptionists were excellent and gave us helpful information whenever we needed it. The rooms were very clean, the service was great, and breakfast was decent. Getting to the centre was pretty easy even in mid-August. Bus 46 stops right across from the hotel and ran frequently. After about seven stops, we reached Famagusta metro station, then took the green line and changed to the red line. It was a fairly quick trip. After midnight, a taxi from Duomo to the hotel costs around 35-40 euros.

Getting around was easy, thanks to the shuttle bus across from Hotel Alga, which came about every 20 minutes and went straight to the metro. From there we could connect to Milan and local areas, as well as trains to Lake Como and Bergamo. It was a wonderful holiday, and the staff, including the cleaners, were friendly, helpful and professional. The reception felt lovely and welcoming, and breakfast was a good continental spread with great service. Rooms were clean and adequate, though a coffee maker or kettle would have been nice. The art deco style was lovely, but the carpet in every hallway and in the lift was a shock and really needs replacing ASAP. Thanks to everyone!
