Casa Amato

For a one-night stop while passing through Milan, we found this on Booking. Casa Amato will be our first choice next time we're in town. The Metro is handy, with the red M1 line a five-minute walk away, and parking in the square is good and free at weekends. There's sometimes a Saturday market, but you can still find a space. The owners are a very kind couple who made us feel at home in their spotless, welcoming, simple apartment, now a B&B.

The apartment was very cold, perhaps because it's on a mezzanine, and the owners skimped on heating. The asking price is unbelievable for what they say they offer. The one good thing is that it's close to the subway. Unfortunately, the experience was negative.

The apartment and location were fine, though it was a little cold. The owner's rudeness, however, was unbelievable. I was meant to leave at 11:00 AM, but he turned up with his wife at 9:15 AM, apparently assuming I wasn't home because my husband had an early-morning visitor. When I complained, he didn't apologize. He said he was the owner and could come and go as he pleased. Are you kidding me? Highly discouraged.

The hosts were knowledgeable and extremely helpful, and the charming apartment had all the comforts. It's near the red line MM stop, about 10 minutes from the historic centre. And your four-legged friend is welcome!
