Metropoli Hotel

The room hygiene was awful. There were stains across the sheets and pillows, so I had to go to reception about it. The shower also didn’t work well, and the elevator was uncomfortable to use. I could hear other guests talking, shouting, showering, and moving around because the walls are so thin and there’s no soundproofing. The worst part was the very rude young white receptionist. I encountered her around 9 p.m. on November 11. She showed no expression, and every time I came in or checked in, I felt awful seeing her. I got the sense she hated her job, and it felt like a mean AI was working at reception. I never want to come back. This place felt like a nightmare gift set. Don’t waste your money here.

Just be aware that the photo on the website is of the Central station, not the hotel. The hotel itself is on the third floor of a building across from the station. It’s a nice, clean place, and I loved it.

The receipt says GUEST HOUSE, and that’s what this felt like to me. It’s only really suitable for young backpackers, and certainly doesn’t deserve three stars. I’d give it one, or even less. Zero stars. My towels smelled funky and bad, and I could easily find hair inside them. The pillows and sheets had stains too. Water running and loud voices came straight through the walls, so it was terrible trying to stay here. The very rude white receptionist working at 16:30 on November 10 was arrogant and unwelcoming. Dirty sheets and towels, that receptionist, and the noise were enough for me. I’ll never come back. Don’t waste your money here.

The staff were really nice once I found the place. It’s a group of hotels, and this one’s name isn’t the biggest on the sign, so I circled the block a few times. In the bathroom they offered lots of things, including shower caps, cups, toothbrushes and toothpaste. There are about three parking spaces, I think, so reserve one as soon as you book. Getting into the parking area is tight. A small car would help, or have someone guide you in if you don’t have many parking sensors. There’s also an awesome old-time elevator, which you might like if you’re into antiques. It’s a great place overall.
