Wine Resort Villagrande

The rooms and shared spaces were very comfortable, and the hospitality was great. We especially enjoyed the fantastic wine pairing dinner and exceptional breakfast. Highly recommend!

We stayed three nights in July 2024, and I think we got the best room in the place. It was on the second floor at the end, with a big tile shower and a private balcony overlooking the vineyard. I booked well ahead. The wine was very good, and the morning coffee was the best, migliore! I also loved seeing Ernesto, the very relaxed farm dog. What a sweetie. ❤️ We had two of the five-course wine tasting dinners, and they were very good. I worried five courses would be too much, but each portion was small. We saw Mount Etna erupt several times. Other guests alerted us, and we went to the driveway parking area for a clear view. 😱 The eruptions kept us awake at night, but I'd hoped to see at least some smoke during our visit, and this was so much more. It was like thunder, and pellets of rock were raining down too! My fiancé wants to return in 2027 for their 300th anniversary. Grazie mille!

The cellar was interesting too: water runs through its walls to keep it cool, so it doesn’t need to sit very deep. The tasting room looks out over terraced vines and the Mediterranean, and I believe you need a reservation. I’m no wine expert, but the wines went really well with some phenomenal food. Our guide chose this stop and it was fantastic. I don’t know what the tasting cost since it was part of our tour, though it felt worth every penny. The staff were knowledgeable, professional, and bilingual. A great stop.

Loved the setting and the view, and both the food and wine were great. Definitely recommended!
