BB Acetaia Il Mulino Di Navicello

The owner was very kind, and it was super interesting to hear how Aceto Balsamico is made.

Barbara made us feel at home with her warm, attentive hospitality. We also loved the complimentary bottle of balsamic vinegar, a lovely sign of how much care the owners put into their work. We didn't get a chance to visit the vinegar factory this time, but we'd like to on another stay. The B&B Acetaia Il Mulino di Navicello is spotless, well cared for, and set in a peaceful, authentic atmosphere. We had a wonderful time and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a genuine place near Modena.

The attic vinegar-making rooms are full of old barrels and have a charming, dusty feel, with the calm pace of the Modena countryside. The rooms themselves are spacious, though there's some clutter that fits the character of the place. Breakfast is generous, but made up of packaged products. This is an old farmhouse that used to be a mill, now producing balsamic vinegar in the traditional way for three generations. The owner explains the process very well on a tour. Staying in a real vinegar factory in Emilia is a worthwhile experience.

I wasn't happy with the owner when we first met. I was looking for a room. Rating: 1.
