You can get to all the main parts of Modena from here, and it stays quiet. We really liked that. The bathroom setup was the one drawback: there’s no privacy from the bedroom, including at the shower, and the shower doesn’t seal well. There are only stairs, so it won’t work for anyone with mobility issues.

I only put up with the place because every hotel in central Modena was full, and thankfully we were there just two nights. The apartment felt cramped and gloomy, and I wouldn’t describe it as contemporary. Getting to the top floor meant a seriously dangerous climb. We were very disappointed and won’t be back to Emilia Suites.

The outside didn’t give us much hope, though plenty of places looked that way. Inside, the room was much better than we expected for what we paid. It’s not large, but the layout makes smart use of the space. The bed was comfortable, and the huge smart TV was a bonus for my wife and me since we watch before bed. It was nice to have something in English. If we come back to Modena, we’ll definitely stay here again. Fantastic.

The interior is lovely, and the woman handling check-in was very nice. But the stairs are narrow, steep, and winding, with no lift, so I wouldn’t recommend it for older people. I stayed a week and didn’t get one good night’s sleep, which was awful with early work starts every day. The top-floor neighbours had the TV blaring until 1 a.m. each night, then people on other floors started banging around at 3:45 a.m. I wouldn’t return because of that.
