Giovanni kept in touch thoughtfully, and you can tell they’ve considered the details. For a budget-friendly stay, the room had everything we needed and plenty of space, with a great bathroom. The mattress was excellent and the cleanliness deserves five stars. There’s also a carefully equipped shared kitchen, which we had to ourselves since no one else had booked it.

A small misunderstanding about 12.00am versus 12.00pm turned into a really unpleasant exchange. I was having a busy day and had misunderstood Giovanni’s message about arranging check-in for the one night I’d booked. He replied rudely and started quoting our earlier messages, which made it feel like I was talking to a lawyer or the police. Maybe he’s new to hosting, but customers shouldn’t be treated disrespectfully over a simple mix-up. He’s not the kind of host I’d want to stay with.

We only booked one night, but I could happily have stayed for a month. The apartment was a lovely size for the two of us, and the water pressure was fantastic. Such a beautiful place right in the heart of beautiful Modica!

The owner was sweet and very accommodating, and gave us great tips for the town we visited afterward as well as for this one. The place is quiet and amazingly located, with good amenities and the kind of cleanliness that leaves it squeaky clean. It’s also really cute, traditional in style, and thoughtfully decorated. Can’t recommend it enough!
