Torre del Sud Hotel

A nice stay, with good food, friendly staff and good cleanliness.

The location works well: the seaside is under 30 minutes away, and Modica’s downtown restaurants are only about five minutes from the hotel. Our room was comfortable and clean, and breakfast was decent. The staff were exceptionally kind and available whenever we had a question or request, and the summer price felt fair. You can pay a little extra for a suite with a small private terrace, or book a room with its own sauna and jacuzzi. A pool would have made the stay even better.

I had a terrible experience with the taxi service and the receptionist Antonio. I asked for a taxi 30 minutes before my bus. He called the hotel's private service, which said it would arrive in 20 minutes, but it took 30, and I missed the airport bus. Antonio then blamed me for not booking the taxi the night before, speaking in a very aggressive, defensive way. The receptionist at check-in had been friendly, but this service was unreliable. Missing flights seems to be within this hotel's standards. The rest wasn't much better: the Wi-Fi was very poor, breakfast was mediocre, with hot coffee and a few pastry pieces, and the mattresses offered no back support. The pillows were cheap, low-quality foam. I wouldn't recommend it unless you have no other option. Other hotels in Modica Bassa are much more professional and offer better service.

Wi-Fi is the main annoyance here. It works, but it's painfully slow. The room was clean, and the air conditioning worked well, though the pillows were awful and the blanket wasn't very good. There was no way to charge a laptop. Restaurant food was just okay, and breakfast leaned heavily toward sweet things, though it looked kind of fancy. Staff spoke some English, but not enough. It's an okay hotel, just not perfect.
