Hotel Duca d'Aosta

We found the on-site parking useful, and the location was ideal for catching a train to Venice, with the station very close by. Breakfast was fresh, good quality, and had lots of choice. The rooms feel a little dated and could do with a deep clean, though they were decent for the price.

We came for a bit of business with our dog, and everything went well. It's a user-friendly little town, close to the train station, and a good base for the area around Venice or a day trip into the city. The hotel had what you'd expect, and I'd recommend it. The only possible snag is the compact garage: a mid-size car may take some maneuvering, and larger cars or SUVs need extra care. Parking just outside the hotel might be easier.

The location near the railway is the one real plus. There are two bars right across from the hotel, and on weekends you can hear people partying. After three nights, I can't understand the five-star recommendations and wouldn't recommend staying here. I booked three single beds, but we were given a double room with one double bed and an extra bed, leaving little space. The room felt very old, with dusty curtains, and the beds were hard and uncomfortable. The bathroom was worst: the shower looked ready to fall apart and was covered in mold, while the toilet was dirty and also nearly falling apart. Breakfast looked nice at first, but the salmon was gone by 7:30 even though breakfast starts at 7. There was some variety, but most items seemed cheap. The garage might suit a Fiat 500; anything bigger is a tight maneuvering exercise. Reception staff weren't attentive. Nobody told us at check-in that we needed to leave the key for room service. We didn't complain because we expected they wouldn't care anyway.

The gentleman at the front desk was wonderful and extremely helpful. Breakfast was good, and the location is about 20-30 minutes away by train or bus. The rooms need extensive renovation to come close to a four-star standard: the furnishings and wallpaper are old and dated, and the air conditioning didn't work, leaving only the option of opening the door and windows.
