Palazzo Introna

We found the breakfast disappointing. Although it’s advertised, what we got was a packaged supermarket croissant costing .30 cents and dry packaged toast. We also had money go missing from a bag we left in the room. The Canadian dollars were still in the wallet, but all the euros had vanished. Reporting it to the police took half a day, and they’re investigating now. When we told the hotel, the woman we spoke with said, ‘people lose money and then they want money from me’. That made me think this may have happened before. They did nothing to look into it. I’m reporting the place to booking.com, where I booked. This place is dishonest.

350 euros disappeared from my bag, even though it never left the room. I filed a police report. When we contacted the hotel, there was no empathy and no attempt to find out what had happened, which is the bare minimum I’d expect. Management was EXTREMELY aggressive, rude, and threatening, and blamed us for the missing cash despite the bag staying in the room. Like the other reviews say, untrustworthy. Do not stay here.

There’s no reception, and the service wasn’t great. Still, the common sitting room is especially impressive, looking out over the square and its central fountain. The apartments are charming and spacious, all on one floor of this seventeenth century palazzo in a central location. The railway station is a 13 minute walk away.

The room was spacious and clean, and my request for two separate beds was accommodated. The breakfast was basic but enough for the price. For a proper Italian breakfast, there’s a corner café just in front of the palazzo. Since there were no other guests, we had the majestic place entirely to ourselves, which felt a bit awkward. Palazzo Introna is unique, and staying in a real Italian palazzo for good value is worth it. But it’s a room rental service rather than a hotel, and there’s no real reception or proper breakfast. I’d given them an approximate arrival time when booking, but nobody was there to let us in during that window, so I ended up waiting at the gate. They had tried to contact me, but on holiday I may simply be offline. I called nervously when I arrived. The man on the phone was direct, but hung up too quickly without saying he was sorry for the inconvenience. Giovanna, who came to let us in, was kind and helpful. In the end, it was a good experience and good value for money.
