The owners were incredibly kind and generous. I got detailed advice about my GTA itinerary and other hiking routes, and when I left my hat on the breakfast table, the manager even drove off to bring it to me. The rooms were spotless and tidy, with plenty of indoor seating if it rains. It's a lovely place in a small mountain village above Susa, and I'd absolutely recommend it as a GTA stop or part of a hike around Rocciamelone.

The couple running the refugio were so warm and welcoming. I didn't eat there, so I can't really judge the food, though the restaurant was packed with Italians enjoying their meals. I'd have rated it higher, but the accommodation was pretty basic. In the building where I stayed, one small bathroom served a lot of guests. My attic room was quiet, but had no electricity or heating, which I didn't need at that time of year. To charge my phone, I had to go downstairs to the restaurant area.

Samantha is a fantastic cook, and her son Christian was so kind and clearly wanted to make everyone's trip special. I left feeling like I'd been part of the family. The food was amazing, the desserts were homemade, and the showers were hot. The beds were clean and comfortable too. I can't recommend this place enough, 5/5 stars!

Beautiful location and great food, though the drive up can be stressful if you're not used to narrow mountain roads 😂
