La Ribezza Boutique Hotel

The photos online made it look like a nice place, but my stay turned out quite the opposite. The staff were unwilling to help with any of the problems and showed no sympathy or interest in sorting them out. I rarely write a bad review, but I wouldn't want anyone else to pay and be treated with that kind of disregard.

The attic room was awkward to use, with only two tiny shelves beside the bed and hardly anywhere to put our things. Breakfast was okay, though I expected more options from a luxury hotel. The hotel itself is beautiful and sits just above lovely Monforte d'Alba, which is very convenient.

We had room 205 and loved the big balcony, and the staff were friendly and helpful. But the Wi-Fi was painfully slow, under 2Mbps both up and down. The shower was tiny, its smooth floor was very slippery, and the controls were balky. At first I struggled to get the water cool enough to avoid scalding. The room card has to sit in a wall slot for the power to work, so you can't charge your electronics while you're out. I can't imagine the savings are worth frustrating guests like that.

We spent the evenings on the terrace with Barolo or Barolo Chinato, and really enjoyed the small pool and sauna. The rooms have lovely views, and the hotel is beautifully decorated with great taste. Marianna and Francesco in particular took such good care of us, they’re wonderful people. Great service in a lovely spot in the heart of Piemonte. Thank you!
