We liked being right in the historic center, and the large fridge-freezer in the room was handy. Breakfast was limited, though it came through Caffè Letterario, a good bar. Still, the stay was frustrating. There was no free parking nearby, and paid spaces were scarce and expensive for several days. The owner gave us directions, but the spots were always occupied. We also had to buy toilet paper and other supplies ourselves. Nobody came to clean, change towels, or restock anything during our four days, despite only two toilet rolls being provided at the start. The hairdryer sparked and smelled burnt the first time we used it, and we had no warning from the property. We unplugged it in time. The TV was faulty, with channels missing or displaying badly, and there was no mobile service in the room, although the Wi-Fi worked. The intercom kept making irritating noises through our first night, but the owner fixed it after we reported it. From the second day, possibly after other guests arrived, the hot water ran out in the evening. Check-out arrangements weren't explained either. We followed the time listed by Booking, then had to go back and tell the housekeeper, who was waiting outside, that we'd already left. We also helped her open the front door because she couldn't manage it herself. My boyfriend and I stayed three nights, and the experience fell short in several ways. We wouldn't recommend this place, especially if you're after a comfortable, hassle-free stay.

We stayed in the green room upstairs. The rooms are spotless and nicely furnished, and the bathroom was finished beautifully. Online check-in is available. The property sits in the historic center, with the sea in the air, which makes the location great for a summer break. Keep in mind that it's inside the ZTL, so you can't reach it by car. Two of the three rooms are up very steep stairs; only one is on the ground floor.

The green room on the first floor was fully renovated inside, as was the outside of the building. The stairs are steep, high and worn, though, so carrying suitcases was a bit of a struggle in this old Monopoli building. It's a quiet, cool alley, and once you're there, nearly everything is close. Getting there from the newer area can mean a bit of a walk through roads with traffic restrictions. There are three rooms, green, red and blue. Great value for money, 10/10. We'll come back, thank you!

Our booked accommodation wasn't available, so they put us in an apartment instead.
