The setting is lovely, with tables tucked beneath big shady trees, and there are pleasant walks in the nearby Karst. We went just for the restaurant. The food was good and the wines were great, though the portions felt a little small if you're hungry and the prices aren't low. You can get there by bus from the city centre, but book ahead, especially on weekends.

The village setting was peaceful, with a lovely garden, and the hotel is well placed for visiting Grotta Gigante. It's right in the village centre, with a supermarket across the street and plenty of parking. We were impressed by the dining room, and the food was amazing. The hosts were very nice and both spoke fluent English. Their locally made wine, sold under their own name, was very good too. The shower wasn't very comfortable, and the pillows were too soft for us. That may be common in this part of Europe, so it might not bother other guests. Still, it's a real gem.

You get fantastic views of Trieste and Slovenia from the surrounding area. The place itself is quiet and cozy, with very good food and wine and a lovely family atmosphere.

We stopped for just one small plate of cold cuts with prosciutto to settle our stomachs a little, and it was super good. The atmosphere feels homey, the staff are friendly, and there's parking nearby.
