Borgo Il Poggio Agriturismo

Saying “I do” to the man of my dreams at Borgo Il Poggio made our stay unforgettable. I can't imagine a more meaningful setting, and I hope we get to return one day. The family has cared for this rustic but comfortable property with real attention to its traditions. Our hosts were warm and made us feel included. Set among olive trees and rolling Tuscan hills, the place is peaceful, charming, and full of beautiful views. It's a lovely spot to relax, reconnect, or celebrate a milestone. Highly recommended.

The Tuscan countryside around the estate is beautiful, but the accommodation and sports facilities are run-down. Service from both the estate manager and owners felt lacking. We were also charged extra for air conditioning, a travel cot, and a high chair, which made our expensive stay feel much more budget than we'd expected. There are plenty of agriturismos nearby, so I'll try somewhere else next time.

We only booked two nights, but could have happily stayed longer. The sunset and views were incredible, and there are walks around the estate right from the apartment. It was very dog friendly, too. The staff were lovely and accommodating with my 8 month old baby. We enjoyed the food, truffle hunting, wine tasting, hikes, and downtime in the hammocks. We'll definitely come back.

The historic stone buildings are more than 400 years old, and the new owners, an Italian and American couple, are planning renovations to bring the interiors closer to modern tastes. They have owned other properties in Italy, so they seem ready for the work ahead. The grounds are spacious, with room to hike, walk, play tennis, or sit on the terrace. I was new to Tuscany and didn't know what to expect, but the views were breathtaking all the way in and across the property. The site looks out in every direction. I enjoyed the food and local wines, and a few restaurants are only about 10-20 minutes away by car. It's dog friendly as well.
