Casanova di Neri Relais

The setting inside the Relais restaurant was beautiful, and we had a great lunch. The food was delicious, and our two waiters were very kind and accommodating, even though we arrived a little late after having trouble finding the restaurant. It was a weekday group visit for a fixed-menu lunch and wine tasting. Reservations and payment were required, and we chose among guinea fowl, chicken, or beef. We finished with coffee.

We loved the hotel's space and its fantastic view over Montalcino, and we'll be back. The service was top notch, friendly, and hospitable. Leticia was fantastic, and the food quality and attention to detail were incredible. Having the winery on site was a bonus. It's close to Montalcino, while still giving you room to spread out. Some recent reviews seem very unfair and nothing like our experience. You do need a car to properly enjoy Tuscany, as countless travel forums say; blaming the hotel for poor planning or lack of basic awareness seems silly.

We came for our honeymoon and were met with professional hospitality from the staff at both the relais and the winery. The stay included a wine dinner program, which was enchanting, and Simona’s wine dinner was especially memorable. This is a winery accommodation known for its wine. We hope to visit again someday.

The views are lovely and the rooms are clean, but traveling without a car here was a terrible experience. Montalcino may be a five-minute drive away, but you can’t walk there safely: the road isn't suitable and there’s no trail. The restaurant wasn't open for dinner, and they didn't even provide water daily. Staff could have shuttled guests into town for a fee, but that wasn't offered. Instead, we were charged 50 to 75€ each way for a five-minute ride. Over three days, pickups from the train station, a ten-minute trip, and trips back and forth to town came to almost 500€. It was outrageous. I've never felt so unsupported in all my travels in Italy. Even the wine tasting was very poor. We had to change plans to avoid the ridiculous charges. When I asked the concierge how people managed dinner, he just shrugged. Never again. Spend your money elsewhere. There are too many kind people in this wonderful country to put up with feeling taken advantage of.
