The Brunello di Montalcino at Il Cocco Vineyard is the kind of wine I can picture Bacchus enjoying. It was easily the best wine we tried in ten days in Tuscany, and tasting it changed my idea of what good wine can be. Our three-hour tour with Giacomo taught me more than a lifetime of reading about wine. He welcomed every question with humility, humor, and deep knowledge. You can feel his love for the land and his almost spiritual respect for nature in the way he talks and works. Making wine takes hard work and some luck, he says, but the wines he poured also reflect devotion, intuition, and reverence for the earth. He experiments while honoring the appellation rules he cares so much about, and his work with each barrel seems almost magical. Giacomo made a lasting impression on us: genuine, extraordinary, and delightfully eccentric in the best sense. Visit his beautiful property in Montalcino, take in the region, and spend time listening to him. Just be warned, his wines may reset your standards for good.

The tour was intimate and special, and I loved learning how the whole process works. My partner and I had a delightful tasting with Giacomo, whose love for the land and wine comes through at every step. Some of the wines were among the best I've ever had, including a really fun orange wine. Can't recommend it enough.

We stayed at Podere Il Cocco, and the grounds were lovely, with plenty of nice places to sit. Our room was sparsely furnished, but perfectly pleasant for the little time we spent indoors. Lunch and dinner were both great. We ordered almost everything on the menu, and each dish was better than the last, especially the Pici. The food was top notch. Giacomo's tour was probably our favorite wine tour of the trip. His deep passion for the land, farming, winemaking, and his process is obvious, and the wine was superb and interesting. Seek out Il Cocco if you're in the area.

Giacomo made the tasting feel like a visit to his home. It was such a lovely experience, more personal and informative than any other tasting I've done.

We really enjoyed visiting Podere Il Cocco. The experience felt personal and authentic, just what I hoped for from a small family-run estate. Giacomo, the winemaker, led the tour himself and shared both his expertise and his passion. The wines were delicious, and lunch was superb. Highly recommended!
