The worst hotel I've ever had the displeasure of staying in, without a shadow of a doubt. It felt unsafe and unclean, the staff were rude, they rearranged our group's luggage, and they moved us without telling us. They promised advertised repairs and amenities, but never followed through. A valuable item I'd bought to take home to my girlfriend was hidden, and they went through our bags without permission. The safety issue is serious. Every door in the building can be opened with the same key, and all the keys are identical. They're old latch-keys, and could be copied by putting something rigid on a stick. Even pushing the door hard enough can open it without damage. The rooms were disgusting, with stains and cracks on the walls. Bathrooms were rarely cleaned and often didn't work. Showers were missing doors or completely non-functional. There was only one working AC unit in the whole building, the tiny unit on the roof, which was far too small to cool the whole building. The AC fans in rooms either wouldn't turn on or blew hot air. It was incredibly hot and muggy, with mosquitoes and bugs everywhere. I didn't see bedbugs, but wouldn't be surprised if there were. After our first day, we complained to the hotel about the advertised basics that weren't available, like air conditioning. They told our travel guide they would fix them, but none of the AC was repaired. The “fixes” were dodgy patchwork. It seemed like they just went around turning the fans on; if one wouldn't turn on, they moved us to another room. The units that worked still only blew hot air. The worst example was a toilet that overflowed. One of our group chaperones was put in a room where the water unit above the toilet overflowed onto her when she went to use the bathroom. A serviceman came after she complained, didn't believe her, and angrily pushed the flush button, only to get splashed himself. She stayed in that room for the night. While we were gone for the day, they sent a “repairman” who covered the top of the water unit with plastic wrap and duct tape. I have no words. I do have a photo, though, so enjoy the comedy session. They also moved our rooms and luggage without telling us, went through our luggage without permission, and lost items. One valuable item I had bought for my girlfriend was hidden. When I confronted the staff about things that had been rearranged where I hadn't touched them, they were very accusatory and made fun of my nationality, United States. The whole time, the clerk argued with my tour guide. When he pointed out that things in my bag had been moved and that I could prove it, she went quiet and took us to look through rooms, still speaking very rudely. After we couldn't find anything, my friend checked the old room. He spotted the bag with the necklace I'd bought sticking out slightly from under a bed riser. He had to lift the bed to reach it, so it had clearly been put there intentionally. I hadn't taken the bag out of my suitcase at any point during the stay, which means someone at the hotel must have gone through it, noticed the valuable, and hidden it on purpose. Another friend said his electronics had been rearranged from one backpack pocket to another. Luckily nothing was stolen, but going through our luggage was completely unacceptable. The food was horrible too. They served cold turkey slices with boxed gravy mix and what was obviously canned pasta. The food also seemed unsafe. One traveller got food poisoning and spent most of the morning throwing up. Do not stay at this hotel.

The bathrooms are awful, and the whole place has a serious hygiene problem. Everything smells. The rooms are dirty and disgusting, with a really bad odor. The staff are rude, don't speak English, and make fun of you in Italian. The food seems undercooked and has no taste.

The hygiene is terrible. The rooms are filthy and have a really strong bad smell. Staff are unprofessional and rude, and they make fun of you in Italian.

I didn't get a good room, but the staff did what they could to make my stay nice. They were lovely, pleasant people and very friendly.

The rooms are small, with old, mismatched furniture that's often damaged, and there were dirty patches on the walls. The neighborhood is ugly. We also worried about our belongings because staff didn't understand that we didn't want anyone coming in to clean the room. Nothing went missing, though. Most of the staff don't speak English. The food was quite good, especially breakfast, and the staff were friendly, but that's about all this hotel has going for it. It doesn't deserve its 3 stars. It was a negative experience, and I'll never return or recommend it.
