Hotel Trieste

We came with a school group, so this is based on several rooms. Wi-Fi only worked on the ground floor and didn't reach the first. There were no smoke detectors in the rooms, and some electrical outlets were exposed. The shutters were broken, and some room doors were so hard to lock that they barely worked, then wouldn't open again. There were holes and tears in the bed linens, the refrigerator didn't work, and the shower sprayed onto the toilet. Even the sign outside was broken. I can't put into words how bad it was. This hotel lives up to its name.

I was worried after reading things online, but our stay turned out well. The staff were very friendly and handled all our requests, including those we made while travelling with children. Dinner was more than satisfactory, and the central location was handy for visiting Santa Claus's house. Good value for the money.

After a day at work, we arrived to find three women playing cards at reception, and we had to wait before anyone checked us in. Room 106 smelled strongly of smoke, was cold, and was very dirty. When I complained, the woman at reception seemed annoyed and offered to move me. The room on the fourth floor was even worse, so I took my suitcase and left. My friend called to complain because he'd already paid, and she said I was too demanding.

The room was poorly cleaned, with chewing gum stuck to the TV. I was on the top floor, the fourth, and there was no water reaching the shower, toilet, or sink. A real drawback.
