The best part for us was the location, with the town easy to reach and the station only a short walk away for day trips. The staff were lovely, and housekeeping came daily, even returning later if we'd had a slow morning. The room itself was fine, though the bed felt too firm for me and the towels were paper thin. Three days into our stay, cleaning left just one towel for the two of us. Our roadside room was also very noisy at night. It worked well for what we needed, and I’d recommend it for the location and friendly staff. If you’re after quiet or luxury, though, this probably isn’t your place.

We ended up checking out early after two rooms both turned out to be dirty and uncomfortable. The second had a better bed, a mini-fridge and a bathroom window, but it still had no heater, a shower that barely worked, and floor sections coming loose. We spent hours cleaning each room ourselves. When we left the key, one of the owners just smiled and said nothing. We had booked five nights and won’t receive compensation. The first room had no proper mattress or bed frame, just something like prison bunks pushed together. Its bathroom fan was so loud it sounded like a washing machine, and there was no fridge, kettle or heater. We asked an owner to move us and were told better rooms might be available the next day. His brother later showed us only one room and said the hotel was full; if we didn’t like it, we could check out and sort it out with Expedia. The hotel photos are misleading. At night, the route from the station also takes you past an area where rude, drunk teenagers hang out. Stay away from this property.

Giacomo and Luca at reception were so friendly and helpful, and nothing seemed like too much trouble. The rooms are basic and a bit dated, but they worked well as a base and the price reflects that. There’s an en-suite bathroom, hairdryer, TV, fridge and decent storage. At the time of writing, they no longer offered restaurant or breakfast facilities. Montecatini’s center is only about a two-minute walk away, with shops, bars and restaurants all around. We heard some noise from the neighboring hotel’s kitchen, since our room was right behind it, but it wasn’t too disruptive. It’s a quaint, reasonably priced place to stay while exploring the area, and I’d recommend it for that.

The room was spacious and clean, the reception staff were friendly, and the location was handy for the city center and one of the few supermarkets. But the temperature was the real problem. There isn’t proper air conditioning, and all the rooms stay at 25-26°C. That wasn’t disclosed to us. When we complained, a staff member came to fiddle with the controls and told us to wait. We called again 15 minutes later because nothing had changed. He insisted the room felt cooler, even though the panel showed the temperature, then said every room had to be kept at 26°C. He even opened the window while leaving the AC on. We’d stayed in four other hotels where we could control the temperature. Don’t stay here if you need a cool room. The pillows were so thin they were almost nonexistent, and the lighting was so poor that reading was out of the question. The towels were an odd cloth-microfiber type that didn’t soak up much water.
