Castello Ginori Di Querceto

This is a wonderful, unusual place to stay, a genuine old fortress looked after by local people. My family and friends stayed in April 2023 while we were in Toscana for 4 days. Our apartment had big, beautiful rooms that felt true to the place, and everything we needed was there. It was still chilly at night, so heating meant lighting the indoor fireplace by hand. The host helped us with that and was welcoming and easy to reach. They also gave us restaurant recommendations. You can go for a hike nearby in the morning. I definitely recommend staying here, but you'll need a car.

Our apartment in this real castle was wonderful and full of character. It had three large rooms, each with its own bathroom, and one side looked out over the valley below. The rooms were cozy, with an air conditioner in each. The castle sits on a hill and has belonged to the family since the 14th century. Beside it is a tiny, storybook village with just one street. The family makes very good wine of their own. We got to try it for free and took a couple of boxes home. In the summer heat, the swimming pool was perfect, and the beach was only a 20-minute drive away. We even found a beach where our dog could come with us. Thanks for such a lovely stay. We'll definitely return to recharge after the rush of city life.

We turned left by chance onto a long, winding back road and found this lovely little town, which is privately owned. We stopped for coffee and homemade cake. A big group meant we couldn't try the wine. The main road down the hill is easier, though you can try either route.

We had a great apartment in a place that feels truly unique. The host was warm and welcoming, easy to communicate with, and gave us recommendations for restaurants and trips. Everyone we met there was lovely. I absolutely recommend it.
