Camere San Flaviano

Massimo was genuinely helpful, and I had a very pleasant stay at the new hostel under the same ownership. It’s right at the entrance to the historic center, a great spot for anyone walking the Via Francigena. The place is new, clean, and functional, with excellent linens, plenty of space between the beds, and a common room for relaxing. I recommend it to Via Francigena pilgrims.

We stayed here with friends while hiking the Via Francigena. It’s simple but welcoming, and they supplied all the linens, even a bathrobe. The bathroom had soap and shower gel, and there was a coffee machine with different pods for guests. Good value for the price.

It turned out to be a pleasant surprise, close to the basilica of the same name and only a short climb from the center. The room was large, and the bathroom deserves a mention too. It’s shared, speaking as a pilgrim. The hotel version has a bathroom in the room. But with two separate showers serving two rooms, it feels much like having your own shower. A great idea.

Everything was very clean, the bathrooms included, and they provided the linens. The staff were very friendly too. The problem was the sleeping arrangements: one “bed” was a worn-out sofa folded flat and covered with sheets, without a proper bed base. It had a dip running down the middle and was impossible to sleep on. I’d have preferred a mattress on the floor. The other bed was a sofa bed that would have been suitable. Then we saw that the rooms had names, and on closer inspection ours was actually called “living room.” Otherwise, I had no complaints.
