Ristorante Albergo Dante

We liked the homey atmosphere, and the prices felt right. One friend had the fettuccine Al ragu and thought it was excellent. I had the same dish, though I wanted a richer tomato or meat flavour in the sauce, perhaps with more tomato paste. Our other companion ordered the sformato di melanzaneo (eggplant) and said it was really good.

The pasta was delicious, like something an Italian mamma had just made, and we also enjoyed a fiorentino steak. There were several kinds of pasta to try. The place feels more like an Italian opera scene than a fancy restaurant where everything is in order. We couldn’t get a table on the beautiful roof terrace because it was fully booked, so we ate inside. Booking ahead is probably best. The kitchen looked completely chaotic, and the front of house wandered around with ridiculous cars like in a hospital. The room was full of locals, many of whom seemed to know one another, which made the experience even better. We didn’t mind, but later in the evening a few people smoked inside.

Lovely local food and atmosphere, with friendly staff. The carbonara is worth ordering. The salate mista is simple, but the ingredients taste fresh and it comes with olive oil.

The food at this family restaurant is delicious, and the prices are really reasonable. You feel like part of the family. They’re known for their carbonara made with handmade pasta.
