Maronda Camping

A wonderful place to stay.

Maronda has become a home and a family for us ❤️ Everyone makes you feel at home, and if something unexpected comes up, there’s always someone around to help. It’s a big family and just right for a seaside vacation. You can relax under the trees without going anywhere, with a private beach, clean water, umbrellas and loungers, plus a bar, restaurant, and market. Everything is set up for an easy, relaxing stay.

There’s hardly any entertainment for adults, and quiet hours aren’t respected. The atmosphere feels very family-oriented, great for children but not so much for couples. At the entrance and reception, the owner is extremely kind and helpful, though staff service elsewhere leaves a lot to be desired. The campground has bungalows, cabins, caravans, and tent pitches. It’s close to the sea, with both a well-equipped beach and a large public beach. Facilities include a bar, restaurant/pizzeria, basketball and bocce courts, ping-pong and billiards tables, a market, children’s rides, a beachside bar, and a small library. There are plenty of bathrooms, hot showers, dog showers, and sinks for washing fish, dishes, and laundry. Prices for pitches aren’t high, but the per-person charge feels steep for what you get. The town center is easy to reach by car, and there are two shopping centers nearby. It’s a quiet holiday spot, with beautiful sea and coastline where a river meets the sea.

Nightmare vacation. I can’t think of a better or worse title for what my family and I went through after paying a lot upfront. We were given a bungalow that was run down and smelled bad. I didn’t want to make an issue of every little thing, so we cleaned it ourselves and tried to be content. But as the days went by, the smell got worse. In a fit of hysteria, I emptied out every corner of the place and found a large rat’s body in a drawer. When I complained, I was told rats in the countryside are normal. Fine, let’s say that’s true. But after that, the rats became far more numerous. They were alive, all over the house, and left droppings in the beds. They also got into the pantry, so I had to throw away the food I’d stored there. Eventually a good man was sent to deal with it, using poison. Rat poison was left throughout the cottage where a six-year-old girl was staying. We searched the whole bungalow and found mattresses and bed bases in terrible condition, broken and propped up with rough wooden planks. Our complaints got us nowhere. We left with the rats still alive. The owner didn’t even apologize, despite the fact we’d been regular customers. It felt as if we’d been given this treatment because she didn’t want to see us again, or didn’t need our money. Never again. I have videos that prove what happened, but I’m too much of a lady to publish them and cause further embarrassment, if you ever experience this yourself.
