Agriturismo Nibbiano

This was our most disappointing agriturismo stay. We spent a lot for what was offered, and the price felt far too high. The place may have been beautiful and welcoming years ago, but the management seems to have changed, which is a pity. There was no restaurant or dinner service. Denise first said the heat had made her tired, then on another day said it depended on the number of guests and she didn’t want to cook for just a few people. The apartments were basic, with old, damaged kitchen equipment and furniture. There was no soap, tea towel, sponge, or dishwashing liquid, and nothing had been set out to make us feel welcome. The sofa our children slept on was awful.

We chose Nibbiano partly because the listing on agriturismo.it said there were laundry facilities, but Denise told us there weren’t any. We were allowed to use her private washing machine instead. We also asked her to look into a nearby cooking class, but never heard back. Communication was difficult from the start: several emails over months and messages on Facebook and Instagram about check-in went unanswered until we contacted Denise on WhatsApp. When we arrived at the time we’d been given, we were told to leave and return at least an hour later. Nibbiano is really remote, at the end of a very long dirt track that needs to be driven slowly, especially in a small car. Dinner depended on how many other guests wanted to eat that day, which didn’t match the site’s mention of a “restaurant.” Breakfast seemed to work the same way, but this wasn’t explained clearly. Our apartment was adequate, though it needed some care. We had to ask for basics like tea towels, a bottle opener, and hand wash. It could also use a kettle and more than two wine glasses. There was only one toilet roll and one bin bag. The pool had lots of creepy crawlies when we went for a swim on the first day, and we spent half an hour fishing them out. That can happen in the countryside, but it looked as if the pool hadn’t been cleaned in a while. There was also a strong sewage smell near the apartments, which we put down to the rural setting. We had no hot water for a full day. Denise didn’t reply when we messaged about it, though it was working again the next day. For people with dogs who want a very basic stay, Nibbiano might suit, but the price doesn’t reflect what’s offered. Communication could be better, even with a guest handbook and Denise checking in once during the stay. We were disappointed, and it wasn’t the agriturismo described. We ate at another nearby agriturismo one night and felt quite jealous.
