Relais la Costa - Dimora Storica

Roberta and Mauro made us feel at home from the moment we arrived. Their kindness, laughter, and care showed in every meal and small detail, and we left feeling like we’d found a second home. I stayed at Relais La Costa with friends, surrounded by golden hills, olive trees, and that gentle Tuscan light. It was the kind of visit that stays with you. I can’t wait to return.

Leaving felt like a relief. We booked this thinking it was a 4-star hotel, but the manager I spoke to was rude, said everyone else was happy and only I was complaining, and even threatened me. She also said they did not claim to have AC. We recorded what happened and sent the evidence to Booking.com, where we had made the reservation. Getting in was already a problem: we waited 15 minutes at the gate, ringing the bell and calling the phone, with no answer. A huge wasp got into our car through an open window while we waited. Then we were shown to the “so-called” apartment. One bedroom had no window and the other only a tiny one, so there was very little light. There was one AC unit in the main bedroom and none in the other rooms. It was 29.5°C inside. After we told reception, they brought noisy fans that looked like they were from the nineties. Three hours later it was still 29.4°C. We asked to move and were offered a smaller room that also had no AC and was over 29°C. There are plenty of normal hotels in the area.

The dinners, spa, and refreshing pool high in the Tuscan hills were highlights of our comfortable long stay in Fall 2025. The restoration shows real attention to detail, and the setting is lovely. Ariana, Roberta, and Moro were impressive hosts, helping us feel at home and sorting out all kinds of arrangements. Bravo to the team. I recommend the place and hope to return.

A lovely place to unwind, with a beautiful view of the surroundings. It’s well placed for visiting other villages, mostly by car. The driveway could use a little improvement, but otherwise everything was perfect. P.S. Our shower worked just fine, and the “killer wasps” stayed out of the car when we used AC instead of leaving the windows open. They’re harmless anyway. The AC in our bedroom worked great too.
