La Muraria

The room was nice, with a good bed, and everything was clean. The big drawback is that they won't let you leave your luggage after checkout. Storage at CQ stations costs 6 euros per bag, and dealing with it is pretty inconvenient and takes up a lot of time.

The room was spacious enough for my overnight stay and fit one suitcase, though I doubt two would fit at once. There’s no lift, and the hotel is on the fourth floor, so you have to carry your bags up yourself. They don’t offer luggage storage, though I don't think that would be possible. The shower pressure was good, the room was clean, and there were plenty of outlets by the bed and sink. It came with an air conditioner, heater, fridge, hair dryer, towels, kettle, shampoo caps, shampoo, and body soap. They also provided free water, bread, and tea. I found the place easily, though it sits behind a large house where Google Maps says you’ve arrived, down a narrow road. It’s close to Monterosso Station and the beach, and I stayed here while visiting Cinque Terre’s five villages. The Italian city tax is €3, payable in cash at check-in. I arrived at 11:00 AM before the official check-in time, but my room was ready. They took care to explain the hotel and how the key worked. I still found the key tricky and contacted them on WhatsApp both coming in and going out, but they were accommodating. Listen closely to the key instructions, lol. One other thing: the hotel has an unusual L-shaped plug, unlike the Italian and European C-type. My Type-C adapter didn’t work, but there was a Type-C to Type-L adapter in the room, or perhaps an Italian C-type adapter, so it wasn’t a problem.

The room itself was fine, clean, and had air conditioning, but the service felt incredibly impersonal. The cleaning lady greets you, though she can’t help much. The rooms are packed into a small space, so you hear every time a guest comes in or speaks. There’s also nowhere to leave your luggage.

It’s less than a five-minute walk to the sea and train station, and a little farther to Monterosso center, but still an easy enough walk. The price is among the lowest, though prices overall are high, especially compared with Monterosso. We had very comfortable, modern rooms, and the staff member we dealt with was extremely helpful. They let us check in after hours, store our bags there the next day, and were available anytime. The downsides are the fourth-floor location in a building with no lift, that it can be hard to find if you haven’t checked carefully beforehand, and that the train station runs behind it. The trains didn’t bother us at all.
