Palazzo Cestari Hotel

The staff were friendly and attentive, and we felt very welcome. We had both breakfast and dinner, the food was very good, portions were generous, and we could choose the dinner menu. The rooms are large, the beds are okay, and the hotel is clean. There’s an indoor pool surrounded by an old Romanian-style structure, almost like a Romanian sauna. My kids and husband loved it. The old palacete has been thoughtfully renovated into a peaceful retreat, just five minutes from Montesano center.

This small 16-room hotel is in a restructured 16th-century building, with an indoor pool and panoramic views. The facilities are well equipped. Staff were friendly and professional, breakfast was plentiful, and the cooking was good.

We spent three lovely days here, thanks in part to Lorela and Virginia, who were welcoming, helpful, and always ready to make our stay enjoyable. The restaurant was very good too, with quick service and a menu that changed each day. Our spacious room had a large terrace looking out over the valley and mountains, with a magnificent view. The hotel occupies a former palace in the region’s highest village. Arriving felt a little disorienting. People in these hilltop villages can seem austere at first, but they’re incredibly warm once you get to know them. The village is worth exploring, as is the wider region, full of hilltop towns, the Padula Charterhouse, and beautifully maintained, landscaped natural parks.

We’ll definitely come back. The building is centrally located, making it a great base for exploring the village, which was a real discovery. The staff were friendly and happy to help with every need. Our room was clean and spacious enough for two, though basic. The cuisine was simple, homemade, and authentic, but excellent. The renovated property feels spacious and is ideal for unwinding. The small spa has a heated indoor pool, Turkish bath, and sauna.
