Casolare Bretulla (CTF171)

The owners were very kind and even let us park our camper behind the house while our parents stayed there. The rooms were clean and pleasant, with a large garden, pool, and barbecue area. It’s a really peaceful place, yet Certaldo, San Gimignano, and Siena are all nearby.

The hosts are great, and the Tuscan hills make this an ideal spot for a relaxing holiday.

We loved the shaded terrace beside the ground-floor cottage, especially for meals with a view. The place is tucked away in nature and very peaceful, with a small access path. Cell reception is limited, though there’s Wi-Fi, and the pool is great for relaxing. Siena and Florence are under an hour away, and San Gimignano is only minutes away. The area also works really well for cycling.

We won’t be coming back. Even the €8 tourist tax still makes me laugh. At checkout, we were stuck inside because the EX automatic gate wouldn’t open, and we had to wait for someone to let us out. The goodbye only confirmed my impression. A few days before checkout, she came into the house and left the front door wide open, supposedly to check whether we’d broken anything. Inside, the dishwasher leaked twice and nearly flooded the place. The ground and landscape were enchanting, and you could feel close to it, including inside the farmhouse: after one minute walking barefoot, our socks or feet were covered in dirt. And there were cobwebs between the bedside tables, bedbugs on the curtains, and so many spiders keeping us company 🥰.
