The rooms were clean, cool, and chic, and the host and location were perfect. Just perfect 😍

The rooms were clean, bright, and well furnished, with a TV, wardrobe, and bedside tables. The bathroom was spacious and had a very generous shower. There's also a breakfast room with a coffee machine, pastries, and tables, plus a kitchen with everything needed for lunch. At check-in they give you a voucher for breakfast at the pastry shop. We had a weekend at Palazzo Mari Suite, right in the heart of Montevarchi. The building is old, with several flights of old stairs to reach the rooms and a handrail that's not easy to use. We knew about that before booking. The entrance sign was hard to spot, and the street is a restricted traffic zone (ZTL) in the evening. The check-in table is just inside the entrance. The woman renovating the rooms greeted us, let us leave our bags, and explained everything after check-in. The next morning was a different story. At 5:15 a.m. I woke to a steady noise from what I think was a pump motor, which went on until 6:00 a.m. Around 7:30 a.m. my wife and I showered, then our son went in. When he came out, wastewater was backing up through the shower drain. Soon half the room was covered in smelly water. I called the owner, Mrs. Giorgia, who rushed over and told me how to contain it. The rooms were beautiful and clean, and everything was meticulously looked after in this historic building. We were welcomed by a very kind and helpful woman. Breakfast at a nearby café was excellent, and coffee and water were available in the guest kitchen. It's excellent accommodation right in the center of Montevarchi, just steps from everything.
