Breakfast was abundant and really good, with all the traditional Italian foods. The garden is peaceful, a lovely place to have tea or a cocktail with friends or family; the birds in the big tree that gave this Montichiari hideaway its name might be the only interruption. The rooms are quiet and elegantly furnished, with a super comfortable bed and a beautiful bathroom, as the pictures show. The owner is welcoming and helpful, and it’s a nice family-run place. There aren’t many rooms, so booking one before they’re gone is a good idea. THIS PLACE IS FA-BU-LOUS!!!!

A total disaster. The rooms had no air conditioning, and the old farm building felt noisy after being turned into a hotel. Breakfast included butter that had expired a month earlier and expired pastries, with no bread or water. When we raised the issue in English, they replied in Italian that we should book a five-star hotel if we wanted a five-star breakfast. There was no apology for the expired food, and the attitude was awful. Not recommended.

The hotel grounds were beautiful and well kept, the rooms were clean and nice, and the owners were especially lovely and hospitable. Breakfast was included and very good. Thank you!

The price felt fair for the quality, and it was a very good place to stay. The mosquitoes, though, were unbelievably numerous and pretty annoying.
