Agriturismo Specchiarussa

Antonio made us feel very welcome, and guests can help themselves to produce from the garden. The agriturismo is simple and very peaceful, and pets are welcome. Torre Vado is about a 10-minute drive away, with the beaches nearby too.

I came back for a second stay within three years. Everything was there, and the accommodations were well cared for. The place is on the basic side, which is pretty typical of Puglia, and prices aren't especially high. Staying in town can cost less and puts you nearer the sea, but the quiet is the real appeal here if you want to get away from the crowds. For me, it strikes the right balance. July is the best time.

The main drawback is the layout: there are four apartments, each along one side of a square building, and there's no ventilation. So it's a choice between the heat and the flies. Air conditioning is available, though I don't see a reason to use it unless it's an emergency. Still, the place is very comfortable and worth recommending. The setting is pleasant, with a little house tucked among pine and olive trees, plus donkeys and other unusual animals. The host was helpful and very friendly. There is a modern, working olive oil mill and a straw barn on the property. At 150 meters above sea level, it seems to be windy almost all the time.

Antonio is so kind and ready to help with anything. The farmhouse apartments were clean and comfortable, surrounded by nature and fresh air, and well placed for visiting other sights around beautiful Salento. We were really sorry to leave, and we'll be back.
