Agriturismo Al Buttasella

Such a lovely place.

Good.

The food was mostly quite good, though the veal tenderloin was completely dry. There were also some serious management issues: the service felt far from courteous, and a very young waitress's skirt was so short that her bottom and underwear were visible, which seemed inappropriate for a family-run farm. I was shocked to watch disposable tablecloths being folded in front of us for the next table, and the oil on our table was a year past its date. The grounds are beautiful, and the kids loved the inflatables, though it's a shame they're out in the scorching sun. What bothered me most was the owner's sister telling the children, without being asked, the sad story of a mare that died giving birth 20 days earlier because her foal was too large, along with the uncertain outlook for the foal, whose mother is currently weak. A C-section can be performed if a foal is too large for a natural birth, a condition called fetal pelvic disproportion, or dystocia. A little more tact with customers would help. Visitors would be better served by hearing a happy ending. We're not there yet.

The pool and its pretty garden made for relaxing afternoons, and there are nice walks around the area. The farmhouse is surrounded by greenery and lovingly looked after, indoors and out. Our room was quiet, spotlessly clean, well equipped and very comfortable. Breakfast was generous, with local products, and the owners were always around and wonderfully helpful with anything we needed. Beautiful. We'd gladly return again and again.
