Really great!
Maria made the stay special. She’s warm and friendly, and showed me an underrated part of the hinterland that felt like a trip back in time. It’s well worth staying and exploring, an unusual journey that never gets boring and leaves you richer for it. The rooms were clean and welcoming throughout my ten lovely days. Thanks so much, Maria, and see you soon.
We were welcomed warmly and professionally by the owner, and the rooms themselves are pleasant with simple furnishings. This B&B is in a farmhouse near Mottola, though the exterior could be better maintained. There’s no breakfast. The main problem is the noise: the rooms are beside a very busy road, and the acoustics are awful. Cars sound amplified by the vaulted ceiling, almost like being in a tunnel.
Masserie Cassiere ended up saving our vacation. I’d first spoken with Mrs. Maria and, despite the promising outlook, chose somewhere nearer the sea. Once I was there, I got back in touch, and thankfully she still had a room. My lively 2-year-old Doberman and I settled into the new little house she offered. The place is wonderful and completely peaceful at night, and the welcome for both of us, especially my dog, was outstanding. Five stars. I’ll come back whenever I’m in Mottola, just a few kilometres from Masserie 5. I recommend it to everyone.
The room stays nice and cool without air conditioning, and the very kind owner leaves mineral water because the tap water isn’t drinkable. The masseria is conveniently located on the highway, but that also means you hear cars and trucks very loudly at night.
