A great place to unwind, with genuinely local food and a gym on site. If you want to keep active, there are water sports at the beach. For a slower day, the hotel has free loungers and umbrellas by both the pool and the beach. It’s also a handy base for sightseeing nearby or farther afield, and there’s guest parking if you want to rent a car. 100% recommended.

The hotel didn’t feel up to four star standards. Towels had a strong vinegar smell, and water from the sink and toilet sometimes ran pink or yellowish brown. We were afraid to use it. The room seemed to fall apart bit by bit. The bathroom door handle came off when I opened it, and the entrance door handle did the same later. The pool wasn’t clean, and the internet didn’t work at all. Breakfast was a big disappointment. The food had no taste, and the coffee was the worst I’ve ever had. The gym was basically a small room with very little equipment, so there wasn’t much you could do.

We enjoyed our first ten days of June at Hotel Torre Salinas. It’s a lovely building in beautiful surroundings, with a good beach and pool. The rooms are laid out well, ours had a nice view, and most staff were friendly and professional. There are a couple of small annoyances. You can’t charge drinks to your room, which may cost the hotel sales since sometimes we went to swim without anything to pay with. Guests also can’t control the room air conditioning themselves. The serious drawback was the food and how it was served. It was poor quality and offered haphazardly. We’d read reviews before booking, but dismissed them as complaints from English guests who just didn’t like unfamiliar food. We’ve stayed at many hotels with good buffet choices, and this wasn’t one of them. I couldn’t believe the food was Italian, a cuisine I love and have eaten all over the world. It was just bad. This review shouldn’t put you off booking, but I’d consider taking bed and breakfast and eating elsewhere.

The hotel is right by the beach, where guests can use sunbeds, and it has a pool, though it wasn’t very clean, as the pictures show. But my stay had a lot of problems. It doesn’t deserve a four star rating, and the hotel, dining hall, and room looked very different from the booking photos. You need a rental car to get there, as there’s no airport pickup, and a taxi costs about €180 each way. At reception, the staff member was kind but seemed new and had to call someone else for nearly every question. An alarm went off every couple of minutes. I was told it was a fire alarm triggered when people smoked in their rooms, even though smoking is not allowed. Nothing seemed to be done about it. You also pay €5 per person per stay for a beach towel, and another €2.50 if you want it washed. The towels didn’t smell good. My room was quiet but smelled of smoke. I asked to change rooms, but the receptionist just said it wasn’t possible and wasn’t helpful. The air conditioning also has to be switched on and off through reception, with no room control. The food was average, nothing special. Breakfast coffee came from a machine and was disgusting. Food was cleared well before the stated end of breakfast or dinner, which was frustrating since breakfast finished early at 9:30. The Vietnamese women serving food were very friendly. There are separate companies for the hotel, bar, and rentals, which makes things awkward. For instance, you have to pay at the bar directly, rather than charge it to your room.

The rooms were a decent size and the building looked fairly new, but the beds were only okay and the pillows could be better. The fire alarm went off repeatedly during the day and on our last night, which was worrying when you were lying in bed wondering if it was real. We booked through Voyage Prive, and I should have researched more instead of assuming it would be more upmarket. I’d call it a three star hotel, not four. The setting is isolated, and as in much of Sardinia, you need a car. I’d chosen to stay within 15 km of the area I researched, so the location itself wasn’t a problem for me. The beach nearby wasn’t anything special, so take the car to other beaches 20 or 25 minutes away. The food and service were the main issue. Quality was poor, and people rushed at the buffet like vultures. Come down after 9 for breakfast and there’s very little left. The croissants were a bit stale and the coffee horrible. Dinner was much the same: dire pasta, and the grill was nice enough but low quality and small portions. The ladies from Vietnam were lovely, but overwhelmed by the crowds. The wine wasn’t for us. We found a workaround and made verano by mixing the cheap red wine with lemonade. The bar sat empty, but it’s a separate business from the hotel, so you have to carry cash. Crazy. The price was very cheap, but I’d rather have paid a little extra for a VIP area with better food and service. If you’re fine with cheap food and the buffet rush from 70 or more people, this could suit you. Would I return? I don’t think so unless they change the format.
