Residenza Petrera

The staff were friendly and helpful, though reception was often closed. It would have helped to have the opening hours in the room. We enjoyed the week despite a few small problems. The property is attractive, well maintained, and nicely presented, with generally well equipped rooms. The kitchen had a hob, kettle, coffee machine, and microwave. The pool area was relaxing, but the pool itself is tiny, reached by steep steps, and really just for lounging. It isn’t ideal for kids to play in, especially when several guests want to use it. We had a two room apartment. The second bedroom was supposed to have two singles, but they were made up as a double. It was also very small and needed a lot of air conditioning to stay cool. Our teenagers couldn’t share the bed because it was too hot, so we had the spare bed set up in the kitchen as a single. That left no sofa in the living area. The balcony had lovely views, but strong winds meant we had to put the furniture away most days and every night. We managed to eat out there only once. Furniture from neighbouring patios blew around and woke me several times on most nights. Since the hotel knows how exposed the rooms are, heavier or fixed furniture might help guests sleep and make better use of their balconies. The weather is beyond the hotel’s control, of course, but this part could be improved. The property sits at the top of a hill, which gives it gorgeous views across town and the surrounding area, though it means an uphill walk every day. We didn’t mind the exercise after gelato in town. You need a car to get to the beaches: the closest is a five minute drive, while prettier ones are 20-30 minutes away. There are a few restaurants in town, and Green Gallery had nice food. We found nicer places along the coast, including a good restaurant at San Giovanni beach that we visited twice. There’s a small extra charge for using the washing machine, and check in requires a €150 cash deposit. Cleaning the room or getting fresh bedding during the stay costs extra too, which we didn’t pay for.

Laura was super friendly and very quick to respond whenever we needed something. The apartment at Petrera was clean and spacious, and the balcony view was superb. Muravera is small but has everything you need, including a supermarket, restaurants, and bars, all within easy walking distance. We really enjoyed our holiday at Petrera and are already looking forward to coming back.

The views were stunning, and the rooms were spacious and clean. Laura was a kind and very helpful host. We had a lovely two week holiday at Residenza Petrera in Sardegna in August 2023.

We had a great experience and the service was very good. The apartments are beautiful, clean, and comfortable, with everything you need and a private terrace with outstanding views.
