Pension Sandhofer

We went back for summer 2026, this time by motorcycle, because we felt so comfortable. The first day I was disappointed, but by the second I could see how beautiful the area is, with orchards everywhere. We were there for the first time in summer 2025, for a cycling and hiking holiday. The accommodation has a pool, lawn, and sun loungers, and the surroundings are lovely. The room lost a star from me because it was on the top floor. Bolzano is about 20 km away and Merano 17 km, and both are easy to reach by bike or on foot. The bike paths are great, and we rode over 500 km in total. The hosts were very nice, and we could park and charge our bikes in the garage. Breakfast was excellent and varied, and when the weather was good we ate outside. There are three restaurants nearby that we can recommend, all within walking distance, but book ahead. One is two minutes away and the others take around 10-15 minutes to reach. The supermarket is about 10 minutes away and has normal prices. There’s also a little general store about three minutes away, though it’s expensive. The ice cream shop in town is about 15 minutes away and is excellent for taste, price, and quality. 👍

We felt relaxed and comfortable staying with the Pichler family. The guesthouse was very clean, and breakfast was excellent, with fresh products every day. Mrs. and Mr. Pichler were kind and always willing to help, with good advice whenever we had questions. The garden is beautifully laid out and the pool is fantastic. We keep coming back year after year to unwind, and the lovely, well-maintained garden and large pool with comfortable loungers make it easy to relax. The corner room by the pool can be aired out easily, even in hot weather. It’s a guesthouse run with care and has a welcoming feel. The hosts are warm, incredibly friendly, and helpful. We’ll be back...

The terrace breakfast and view over the garden made our week worthwhile on their own. We found Pension Sandhofer by chance on our first holiday in South Tyrol, after everything else was already booked. The service was exemplary, the hosts were incredibly friendly, and the place was spotless. The pool was fantastic in the beautiful weather. We’ll be back.
