B&B Il Golfo

The owner was unpleasant and spoke no English, insisting that we translate every text into Italian. He kept messaging in the morning for our arrival time, though on a road trip we could only give an estimate. When we arrived 15 minutes later than that, he got angry about having to wait, and his manner was annoying and arrogant throughout the day. He was verbally aggressive about the city tax too, demanding it right away in cash. The price was very high for what we got, and I felt we were massively overcharged. I wouldn't call it a hotel, just an old room in the city. The pictures show how old and dirty the place is.

The place was spotless and always smelled lovely, with a really welcoming feel. The owner was fantastic, friendly, and there whenever we needed something. Breakfast came to our room at the time we chose, and they gave us plenty. The service was incredible, better than at five-star hotels!

A good value, centrally located hotel. It was clean, had air conditioning, and the mattress was great after a day walking in Naples' fierce sun. There are nice places to eat nearby, and the metro/train station is only 3-5 minutes away. Breakfast was tasty and self-service, and we could conveniently take it to our room. The hotel even supplied coins for the building's elevator.

The room itself was spacious, clean, and looked out over the square. Breakfast was packaged pastries, coffee, espresso, and juice. The shower water was only lukewarm, and the owner was a serious disappointment. He was rude and unaccommodating, and tried to intimidate us over a bad review. After my husband posted one, the owner sent an accusatory message claiming he would call the police and report him for stealing the hair dryer, which is physically fixed to the wall, and the TV remote. He threatened that my husband would be known as a thief all over Italy and wouldn't be able to steal anymore. It was a shocking display of hospitality.
