La Dimora di Nettuno

The room cost €120 with taxes and fees, and wasn't worth half that. Breakfast was just assorted Cornetto, coffee, and juice, enough to get by. One good thing was being within walking distance of the US Consulate, which was why we'd chosen the place. I wouldn't consider staying there again, even if I had to return to the consulate. The staff were helpful, or at least tried to be, but the stay was awful. Somehow the reservation from Priceline / booking.com was for the wrong room, so five of us got two single beds and a small double. We probably slept about two hours each. The room, bathroom, sheets, and pillows were dirty. There was period blood from a previous guest on the toilet bowl rim, and ants across the floor and inside the refrigerator. It was extremely loud, with constant honking and yelling that only settled around 2 AM. With the windows shut, bugs still bit us all night. I don't think they were bed bugs, since the bites were larger, but we left covered in marks on our legs, arms, and backs. There was no hot or even warm water, in the sink or shower, even after letting it run for minutes. It was an ice-cold shower.

The location was very convenient, and the room was clean and roomy enough for two. Everyone was helpful and the service was great. The AC worked perfectly, which really matters these days, and breakfast was delicious, especially the croissant.

We stayed in November and found the location excellent and very safe. The rooms were really nice.

Good value overall, though I'd say it's better suited to Italian speakers than to foreign visitors who speak English. Getting the keys to reach the room felt quite strange.
