B&B Rial

I won’t be coming back. The owners and staff were arrogant, the shower was inside the room, the bathroom drain was broken, and the air conditioning had been switched off so we couldn’t use it. The elevator was tiny and very old, and you had to pay to use it. Without the right coins, we had to climb four flights of stairs. At around 11:40 in the morning when we arrived, we called to ask if we could go up just to leave our bags, while still waiting for check-in. They said, "Five minutes and the staff member will be there." We waited until 12:30 before anyone came. That evening it was pouring rain, and after getting caught in it we were freezing in the room. The air conditioning wouldn’t turn on, so we called and asked them to switch it on. Again, they said, "Five minutes and we'll be there." After 20 minutes, nobody had arrived. We called again because we had a restaurant booking and needed to leave. They said, "How come no one showed up? I'll call right away and we'll be there in five minutes." We waited an hour, then left with no one having come. The next day, though, the owner expected us to leave the room by 9:30. Is punctuality only expected from us? This is absurd. I’ve never had such terrible service at a B&B. DO NOT GO.

Just a few steps from the central station, but the building and rooms are badly kept. There was a broken bidet faucet, a clogged sink, peeling wallpaper, an unusable fridge, heating that didn’t work, and a broken headboard stuck to the wall. The soap dispensers seemed unhygienic, the shower was in the room so it filled with steam, there were no bedside tables, and the shared hallway coffee machine had only two pods for three days. The cleaning lady was the only bright spot. She tried to help ease any problems. Avoid this place.

The location is convenient, near the metro, taxis, and trains, but the building is so run-down there’s little to say. We were on the fourth floor, reached by a tiny elevator. The sheets were dirty, the floor needs replacing, and a fake-flower vase was covering a crater in the wall. The shower dispenser was a disgrace to hygiene. There was no air conditioning or heating, and flies and other insects kept us company.

The shower soaked the whole ceiling when we turned it on. The sink and bidet faucets were missing, though those fixtures were fairly clean. Stained bedside tables and noise from every other room added to it. The bed was the real shock: once we got in, we found blood stains on the sheets, as if they hadn’t been washed. Nobody from the B&B was around to ask, so we bought a mattress protector to put over them. We arrived at noon to check in, but the cleaning lady was still working, so we waited an hour. Everything seemed clean at first. You don’t need to ask for the B&B’s front door, but you do need to ask for the bedroom door. If you need a place to stay, it might do. On vacation, I’d definitely avoid it.
