Bed & Breakfast Medea

I felt very safe here as a woman travelling alone. It was so quiet, and the staff were friendly, great and quick to help whenever I needed it. I stayed five nights and was pleasantly surprised that my room was cleaned every day. The balcony was beautiful, and the location is so central it's hard to beat. The guy serving breakfast was great too, always smiling. I'd definitely stay here again.

The BnB was clean and kept tidy, and the staff were friendly. We were right in the heart of things, close to everything Naples has to offer.

The location and terrace were good, but that's about all I liked. There's potential here, but whoever runs the place seems to have made up some odd rules, and I can't blame the staff if they're just following them. Watch for extra charges. They charge for check-in, which I've never come across in all my hotel stays. You'd expect that to be included in the daily rate, but after 8 pm it costs 15 euros, and after midnight it's 25 euros. We also paid 30 euros for an airport transfer. The driver arrived an hour late after lots of messages back and forth, but they still insisted on charging us 25 euros because we arrived a few minutes after midnight. We said the taxi they'd arranged was late, but they wouldn't budge. An Uber would have got us there on time. The air conditioning didn't work either, and they charge 10 cents to use the lift. What a joke. The check-in charges aren't in the booking.com policies. They only appear in an obscure email, as shown in the image below. Spend your money somewhere with better value, where you can relax instead of dealing with silly hotel rules.

The location is great for seeing historic Naples, and we had good communication with the staff. Our biggest issue was how they handled our airport problem. A taxi strike began unexpectedly the day before we needed to fly home. We don't speak Italian and hadn't even heard about the strike until staff told us, so we needed help. They spent a few hours trying that morning but couldn't find a solution. Much later, after the staff had changed, another worker told us they'd found one. It was impressive that they kept track of the problem, passed it along and worked on it all day. Thank you, what a great group of people. There were some other snags. We weren't told breakfast had to be requested a day ahead, so we missed out during our short stay. The advertisement also seemed a bit misleading: our bathroom wasn't connected to our room and was shared with the room next door. We were lucky it stayed vacant, but we weren't allowed to shut the door between the two rooms and bathroom. Loud, obnoxious music from the nearby bar area could also be heard in our room. The keys worked, though they were tricky.
